These posters were developed from ideas explored in my initial mind map. I used Balboa ExtraBlack and Franklin Gothic throughout the series to create a bold and consistent visual identity that reflects the theme of interaction through expressive typography. The black and white colour palette, inspired by the Character.AI app, reinforces the serious tone while improving contrast and readability. The posters were also produced as a zine to encourage engagement, while the motion poster format allowed me to explore the dynamic relationship between people and AI.
LIVE BRIEFS
This second year project was based on an official brief set by the International Society of Typographic Designers. Although second year students were not eligible to participate in the competition, this was my first experience working on an ISTD brief. I chose the theme of “Interactions” because of its relevance to the growing use of artificial intelligence and the increasing number of young people turning to AI for comfort and companionship. A motion poster was the most suitable format, as it allowed me to explore the evolving relationship between humans and technology in a more engaging and immersive way.
